"The sustainability fee has several advantages that benefit our festival guests and the environment"

1. Reduces waste

The sustainability fee encourages recycling. By returning the cup, the amount of single-use plastic that ends up in residual waste is reduced, and you help to limit the environmental impact of plastic pollution. All sorted cups are sent to Infinitum for recycling and reuse.

2. Motivates increased reuse

The sustainability fee makes our guests aware of number of plastic cups that are in use below the festival, and encourages taking care of the cup instead of letting it end up on the ground. We deliver all collected plastic cups to INFINITUM for recycling.
Did you know that Tons of Rock has its own recycling officer who
ensures that materials and objects used during the festival last longer
lifetime?

3. Increased environmental awareness

The sustainability fee helps to raise awareness of, and the importance of, sustainable choices. By introducing an sustainability fee, we will encourage a positive change in consumer behavior at our festival.

4. Finances sustainable measures

The income from the sustainability fee is used to finance sustainable measures at the festival. For example, for environmental awareness campaigns or measures to reduce the carbon footprint of the event. Among other things, we have our own environmental station where we manually sort all rubbish that is not sorted by the public. We have also put considerable resources into removing the use of diesel generators and are building temporary high-voltage facilities that supply the entire festival with electricity from renewable energy sources.

5. Cooperation with suppliers

Tons of Rock supplies all plastic cups to INFINITUM, which melts the cups so that the plastic can be recycled and given new life. By using this method, we almost manage to halve emissions compared to reusable cups.

6. Energy and resource savings

Recycling cups reduces the need to produce new ones, which saves energy and reduces raw material consumption. This helps to preserve natural resources and reduce CO2 emissions linked to production processes.

7. Contributes to global goals

With us, you can also make a difference and help reduce the festival's climate footprint. Tons of Rock will achieve a recycling rate of over 50% of total waste by 2025 and 90% by 2030.
